The core of our grappling system is Royce Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Jiu-Jitsu concentrates on dominating your opponent by using angles, leverage, and superior body positioning to control an opponent’s body movement. A person that has a superior position is in a better situation to apply a finishing hold or to start striking.

I have been going to the Greenville Academy of Mixed Martial Arts for a little over a month now. I am learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wing Chun Kung Fu, and Mauy Thai Kickboxing. I started going to get back into shape after a long term illness but was suprised to find out how much fun it was to work with the knowledgable and professional staff who take time to help individual students on a one on one basis when needed. My fellow students are varied in age and skill level but all have been supportive and many have become good friends. I highly recomend this academy for anyone wanting to get in shape and looking to get serious about learning various martial art forms. Because of this gym I can now truly say, “I am a martial artist.”
