The Gracie Barra School in Bangor, Maine was established in October 2006 by the head instructor Eduardo Benjamin, with the support of his master red and black belt Mauricio Robbe. The school is well known in the Martial Arts community for its commitment to teaching high level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. At our school, you will receive hands on attention from the class instructor who will monitor your progress in a clean, safe, and family-friendly environment.
Eduardo Benjamin has trained under legendary Master Carlos Gracie Jr., and the World Class professors, Mauricio Robbe and Flavio Almeida. Our school is for everyone and anyone who is looking to get in shape, learn self defense, and improve the overall quality of their lives. In addition our family-oriented environment is a perfect place to teach your children to feel safe everyday not only when they are at school or outside playing, but also in developing their self-confidence and discipline.
The Gracie Barra Maine instructor and students travel the United States and Brazil for competitions. You don’t have to compete to get promoted, but competitions are a good way to challenge yourself. We have state champions (Maine and Vermont) and our instructor is a Brazilian State Champion, Vermont State Champion and a New England adult expert division champion 2008 under The New England Grappler Association (NAGA).
