Loading...Alpha Jiu-Jitsu Academy, Cookeville’s premier Jiu-Jitsu academy. Our academy teaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, one of the most effective and popular martial arts in the world today. Our students learn a variety of self-defense techniques that can help you defend yourself in a real-world attack. Our curriculum focuses on self-defense techniques from Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.
Unlike tournament-oriented schools, the focus here is on the basic, real-world effective techniques, but our students have been very successful in grappling tournaments, most recently taking first and second place in different divisions at the 2005 Middle Tennessee Grappling Tournament. Instructor Alan Whited has been studying Gracie Jiu-Jitsu since 1997. Alan received his purple belt from Professor Pedro Sauer. He regularly trains with Mickey Swafford of the Chattanooga Jiu-Jitsu Academy.
